How much experience or what level of ability does my child require to participate in the development and 3x3 programs?
Kids under the age of 9 do not require any prior experience to participate in our Development programs. Our U7 and U9 Development programs are designed for children of all abilities and experience levels.
Our U11 Development programs and 3x3 programs move beyond teaching foundational basics (dribbling, shooting, and passing) and focus more on decision-making, as well as offensive and defensive concepts. Therefore, we recommend that participants have basic fundamental skills before enrolling. While fundamentals are still reinforced, these programs begin at a more progressive level.
Our U13 Development programs and 3x3 programs are more advanced and not recommend for kids who are trying basketball for the first time.
What does my child require to participate in the program?
Children are only required to bring their own indoor shoes, shorts, and water bottle.
A reversible jersey will be provided by Climb. Climb will also have basketballs for the children to use, so we ask that the participants to leave their personal basketballs at home.
What are the age groups for U7, U9, U11 and U13?
U7s are children 5 and 6 years of age, U9s are childer aged 7 & 8, U11s are children aged 9 and 10 years of age, and U13s are children aged 11 and 12. Exceptions can always be made so please reach out to us to discuss your child's placement. Because of our high coach-to-player ratio philosophy, these groups can be split up by age and/or ability during the sessions so everyone gets the same quality of experience.
Are parents allowed to watch the sessions?
Yes. Parents are allowed to stay and watch the sessions. However, we ask parents not to coach their children during the sessions as it can cause the children to lose focus on what the coaches are teaching.
What is your refund policy?
A full refund will be provided if a request is made at least 14 days prior to the start of the program’s first session. No refund will be provided after that period. A refund can only be made for our program cost. Membership fees paid to ABA/CB are non-refundable.
If a child cannot attend a session or sessions due to illness or injury, no refund, discount or credit will be provided.
If a training session is canceled due to unforeseen circumstances, a prorated fee will be refunded. This only relates to cancellation not a change in schedule.
Do you offer a sibling discount?
Yes! We offer discounts to families that register siblings. Please reach out to us for more information.
What will be the focus of the program?
The focus of the program is to teach children fundamental offensive skills while developing agility, movement, and coordination skills which are important to the game of basketball; all in a fun and welcoming environment.
What is the Government Issued ID that is required at registration?
This can be a picture of your child's birth certificate, Alberta Health Care card, or Passport. This information is required for liability purposes but is only accessed in the event there is a liability claim made against Alberta Basketball.
