How much experience or what level of ability does my child require to participate in the development and 3x3 programs?
Kids under the age of 9 do not require any prior experience to participate in our Development programs. Our U8 Development program is designed for children of all abilities and experience levels.
Our U11 and U13 Development programs move beyond teaching foundational basics (dribbling, shooting, and passing) and focus more on decision-making, as well as offensive and defensive concepts. Therefore, we recommend that participants have basic fundamental skills before enrolling. While fundamentals are still reinforced, these programs begin at a more progressive level.
What does my child require to participate in the program?
Children are only required to bring their own indoor shoes, shorts, and water bottle.
A reversible jersey will be provided by Climb. Climb will also have basketballs for the children to use, so we ask that the participants to leave their personal basketballs at home.
What are the age groups for U8, U11 and U13?
U8s are children between 5 and 8 years of age, U11s are children between 9 and 11 years of age, and U13s are children aged 12 and 13. Exceptions can always be made so please reach out to us to discuss your child's placement. Because of our high coach-to-player ratio philosophy, these groups can be split up by age and/or ability during the sessions so everyone gets the same quality of experience.
Are parents allowed to watch the sessions?
Yes. Parents are allowed to stay and watch the sessions. However, we ask parents not to coach their children during the sessions as it can cause the children to lose focus on what the coaches are teaching.
Is there a refund policy?
A full refund will be provided if a request is made at least 14 days prior to the start of the program’s first session. No refund will be provided after that period.
If a training session is canceled due to unforeseen circumstances, a prorated fee will be refunded. This only relates to cancellation not a change in schedule.
If a child cannot attend a session or sessions, no refund or discount will be provided.
Do you offer a sibling discount?
Yes! A sibling discount of 15% will be provided on the registration of each additional participant. This discount can only be applied to Climb's program fee, not the Alberta Basketball Association membership fee. Use promo code SIBLING15 on each additional registration. Improper use of this promo code is monitored and will result in an incomplete registration.
What will be the focus of the program?
The focus of the program is to teach children fundamental offensive skills while developing agility, movement, and coordination skills which are important to the game of basketball; all in a fun and welcoming environment.
What is the Government Issued ID that is required at registration?
This can be a picture of your child's birth certificate, Alberta Health Care card, or Passport. This information is required for liability purposes but is only accessed in the event there is a liability claim made against Alberta Basketball.
